This last week has been really busy as I started a new venture with Squidoo — a club for plus size fashion bloggers called The Fatgirl’s Closet. My immediate goal is to build a top 100 directory of fashion bloggers. My long term goal is to create a club where these bloggers can network with one another to promote their blogs and of course plus size fashion.

One of the cool things about working with Squidoo is they designed the headquarters where the club will reside and where bloggers can make pages about their blogs or plus size fashion in general with The Fatgirl’s Closet logo. Bloggers get all the same features that Squidoo offers except we have our own place to do it. To round off the club I created a facebook page and a twitter account to keep everyone in touch.

My official role is “club leader”. I’m featured on the main headquarter page and my role is to market the club and provide support to bloggers as they create lenses. I’m very excited about this project as I’ve wanted to create a home for plus size fashion bloggers for some time and now it’s happening; one fashion blog at a time.

I’ve always wanted to be an angel. A SquidAngel that is. Today I started my position as a SquidAngel at Squidoo. It’s a volunteer position where I travel through the guts of Squidoo rewarding worth seeing with a love “bump”.

In true Giant Squid fashion I have created a lens that will document my angel journey by highlighting all the lenses I visit and give a thumbs up. I call this lens — My Squid Angel Journey — I know original, right.

It’s also a great way for lensmasters to connect with me and let me know if they have a special lens they want me to look at.

In blessing others I bless myself (I don’t mean literally).

The Write Prompts is my first lens, originally developed by another writer who turned it over to me. From the day it became mine over two years ago I have been updating it religiously every Sunday.

It has a large following and its popularity eventually led to me developing its sister The Write Prompts Blog which I also update every Sunday. I’m feeling very proud of myself today.

The Curvy Chics lens is kind of an index for other lenses. It gives brief intros on some of my favorite curvy chics and then leads readers to larger lenses on each curvy lady. This is one of my favorite lenses and I’m glad it received this acknowledgment.

Two of my older lenses were awarded purple stars this week. The first is kind of a strange lens. I can’t remember why I made it in the first place and it wasn’t incredibly popular until the beginning of this year. I’m talking about the Megan Fox Tattoo lens. It’s a basic lens with very little information other than a listing of images depicting the actress Megan Fox’s tattoos. But I like to think it is well laid out and looks nice. It’s the only lens I have that has made it into the #1 lens spot (about the time when Transformers II came out) and stayed there for a few weeks. It has been a very productive lens. There is a poll on it that has registered over 17000 entries.

The other lens I made about this time last year. It highlights the major/favorite places online to find Plus Size Halloween Costumes. As you can imagine it is one of those lenses that is more popular at certain times of the year than at others. It is one of my personal favorite lenses.

Last night when I was busy working on my third lens for my Squidoo Summer Course it never occurred to me that it would be rewarded a purple star so quickly (or at all really). I woke up this morning and there was a message in my inbox that it was purplized. This is my fourth purple star (I’ll probably stop blogging about them around thirteen or so. But no guarantees. I like purple.

The Eating in Thunder Bay lens was an assignment about highlighting local establishments via a lens. It’s not surprising that I choose food over say, the museum. This lens highlights the hot spots my husband and I like to make a point of eating at when we visit our place of birth. I’ve opened it up so visitors can include their favorite restaurants from the area too.

When I was done I decided to make a Squidoo lens reviewing each book followed by polls for visitors to add their ratings.

This past week the Squidoo crew awarded it the purple star of goodness. I’m quite thrilled that they have chosen another one of my lenses for purple star status.

I put a lot of work into my lenses, especially my review lenses; it’s nice to have that recognized.

Over at Squidoo they have instituted a purple star award for exceptional lenses from Giant Squid lensmakers.
Being awarded a purple star increases the rank of the lens as well as the visitors. But of course the best part is the lovely power purple star that shows up in the lensmaster main bio and chosen lens bio.

My Blended Matcha lens was one of the first to be inducted into the purple hall of fame. This lens gives a play by play on how to make a green tea smoothie using matcha.
